Under the management and record label of BigHit Entertainment, Cortis has continuously captured public attention. Consisting of James, Martin, Juhoon, Seonghyeon, and Keonho, the group officially debuted on August 18, 2025.
Cortis stands for Colour Outside the Lines. True to their name, the group’s mission is to break boundaries in the entertainment world with their own colors. Their debut mini album, Colour Outside the Lines, features five songs that they produced themselves.
Over the past two years, the members have written more than 300 songs. From those hundreds, they chose the five best ones that most express “who they are.” Beyond self-producing their music, the members also took part in choreography and music video production. So, it’s no surprise that all five members are credited throughout the album.
According to BigHit Entertainment, Cortis’s debut album features five tracks. The first is “GO!”, a bold declaration to the world. The title track, “What You Want,” is a powerful anthem that conveys their determination to reach what they truly desire.
Then comes “FaSHioN,” a song that expresses their unique lifestyle through the theme of fashion. Next is “JoyRide,” which captures the spirit of freedom on a carefree summer day. Lastly, “Lullaby” offers a moment of comfort as the members lean on each other amid an uncertain future.
However, it’s not just their addictive songs—Cortis also became a sensation for their fashion style. Amid a wave of rookie groups that prefer polished styles to create a “perfect” group image, Cortis stands out with their laid-back street-inspired look.
Cool Style with Street Vibes

Cortis stands out with a relaxed and youthful fashion sense. For concept photos, advertisements, and promotional activities, the five members often wear streetwear-inspired outfits with vintage touches.
Ripped T-shirts, oversized denim jackets, tilted snapback hats, Harley Davidson tees, and faded colors give them an edgy yet casual impression. The distressed T-shirts chosen by Cortis’s stylists give off a bold, rebellious vibe, while the denim jackets add a vintage touch.
Their style highlights youthful energy while showing confidence in being different. The mix of graphic tees, loose sweaters, denim, and jogger pants creates a sporty yet comfortable look. Even though their style is casual, it’s still eye-catching—the color and pattern combinations make their vibe both playful and edgy.
Cortis’s stylists also love incorporating urban streetwear with a grunge touch. In several photoshoots, the group can be seen wearing ripped denim, layered outfits, and earthy tones. Accessories like boots often complete their look.
Individually, each member has a unique personal style while maintaining a cohesive casual streetwear concept. Some prefer bold graphic T-shirts, while others go for oversized sweaters and joggers. This mix strengthens the group’s sporty yet stylish image.
The History Behind Sagging Pants Often Worn by Cortis

In an interview, Martin revealed that their fashion style reflects how they actually dress in daily life. Off-camera, Cortis members often wear hoodies, denim, and—perhaps most strikingly—baggy or sagging pants.
Historically, the sagging pants trend originated in the 1970s in U.S. prisons. At the time, inmates were only allowed to wear pants in one standard size, which were often too large. Belts were prohibited for safety reasons.
When prisoners were released, the habit of wearing sagging pants became a kind of code meaning “don’t mess with me, I’ve been to prison.” Over time, the trend spread into mainstream society—even among people who had never been incarcerated.
The sagging pants style was also influenced by hip-hop culture, as many rappers and musicians adopted it. However, the trend sparked controversy—some saw it as inappropriate, while others viewed it as a form of self-expression.
